POEMS

END OF JOURNEY

By Mauro C. Souza © 2012

Dad, I don't know

If fate will accede me.

Outlaw,

Your child is a pair of traps

Made to catch the future.

Dad, I straightened out

The question mark

To fill me with reasons.

I'll accept my fate.

If the fruit is not ripe,

I don't care.

I just want to eat it.

Dad, I remember

The things you taught me.

I have a formal contract,

I work at the station.

If tomorrow exists

I will eat, or not.

I will fight to live,

And suffer if I cry.

The waters of March

Are tears,

And promises

Of spring flowers.

Goodbye, dad.

The road is endless.

Finally, I understand.

To live is to follow the path

With love or not.
